Biography
Azmi Bishara is a Palestinian intellectual, and political writer.
He holds a PhD in philosophy, and he is currently the General Director of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and a member of its Executive Board. A prominent researcher and writer, Bishara has published numerous books and academic papers on political thought, social theory, and philosophy, in addition to several literary works. Bishara received the Ibn Rushd Prize for Freedom of Thought in 2002 and the Global Exchange Human Rights Award in 2003.

تناول المفكر العربي عزمي بشارة في هذه المحاضرة مسألة الشعبوية باعتبارها الأزمة الدائمة للديمقراطية، وقام بشارة في بداية محاضرته بتحديد مصطلح الشعبوية كشرط ضروري لفصلها عمّا سواها من الظواهر، ثم تطرق بعد ذلك للعلاقة التي تربطها بالديمقراطية متحدثًا عن 3 توترات في هذه الأخيرة هي التي تسمح ببروز الخطاب الشعبوي، كما تطرق بشارة لنماذج من الشعبوية في سياقات زمنية مختلفة، وتناول بالتحديد الحالة التونسية الراهنة.
ألقى الدكتور عزمي بشارة هذه المحاضرة، مساء السبت 22 أيار/مايو، عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي،وتعرض فيها لقضية النكبة في فلسطين، معتبرا أن النكبة التاريخية تكتسب راهنيتها اليوم ممّا يجري من عدوان إسرائيلي على القدس ومحاولات دولة الاحتلال الاستيلاء على بيوت المقدسيين، هذا بالإضافة إلى التصعيد العسكري في غزة، وخصص بشارة بداية المحاضرة لتناول الأوضاع الراهنة في فلسطين، ثم تناول بعد ذلك قضية النكبة وسياقاتها التاريخية ونتائجها.
قدّم المفكر العربي عزمي بشارة اليوم الأحد 21 آذار / مارس محاضرة بعنوان: "الدولة والأمة ونظام الحكم: التداخل والتمايز" وذلك في افتتاح مؤتمر العلوم الاجتماعية في دورته الثامنة المخصصة لموضوع "الدولة العربية المعاصرة: التصور، النشأة، الأزمة"، واستعرض الدكتور عزمي بشارة في المحاضرة سلسلة أفكار حول الدولة ونظرياتها المختلفة وعلاقتها ببعدين أساسيين ومرتبطين بها وهما نظام الحكم ومفهوم الأمة.
